The LLB focuses on building capacity, i.e. Mission, fund raising, and leadership, within an assigned market, or State. The LLB serves as the “face” of the Association at the community level. Additionally, the LLB recommends volunteer leaders to serve the Association at the Regional level. Board Requirements III. Roles and Responsibilities of Local Leadership Boards A. Serve as spokespersons for the ALA mission, advocating for programs, services, and public policy initiatives. B. Identify the local lung health needs in the community and help set the strategic direction to meet those needs. C. Monitor and advise on local initiatives to ensure they meet the targets set in the annual work plan. D. Participate in and support local fundraising events and activities. E. Help identify and recruit a diverse group of community leaders for service on the Local Leadership Board, local committees, and Regional committees and Board. F. Present issues, ideas, and/or concerns to the Regional Boards through their local representatives. G. Actively participate in the nationwide E‐advocacy program and on the advocacy rapid response team. IV. Board Member Roles: A. A. Each LLB member completes an annual commitment form to provide specific project assignments to meet annual project goals. B. Serve as a spokesperson representing the Association before local governments, professional and medical associations, and the media. C. Act as ambassadors of the association; Leadership Board members are to sign up and actively participate in the nationwide E-Advocacy program, as well as the association’s local donor acknowledgement program. D. Actively recruit leadership from corporations, medical institutions, and community leaders to fulfill Mission and fund raising local objectives. E. Serve on at least one committee or task force. F. All Board members will financially support the Association, and “open doors” within their sphere of influence for financial support of the Association.
