We have a unique structure as an organization in that we are a membership driven/membership run organization patterned after the Sociocracy model. Our mission is to promote Social Justice through Musical Excellence. We are moving toward having more "at large" members on our Board to further engage in our community, and there are several committees that are looking for volunteers - it is not necessary to sit on the Board to be volunteer with our committees. We have a need for people who can lend their talents in the areas of Finance/Accounting, Development, Strategic Planning, and Marketing, as well as some other ad-hoc committees. If you are looking for an avenue to advance Social Justice causes that you care about here in the Queen City, this is a great way to do it! Board Requirements We are primarily interested in people who are eager and willing to serve, and individuals with backgrounds that align with our needs. We meet formally once a month and have an annual Board retreat. Being in a committee would mean meetings roughly monthly within that committee and may not require you to be present at the Board meeting. Special events may require a few additional meetings. Onboarding We have on-boarding documents and an on-board meeting for new members at the beginning of each term. Prior to the beginning of term we encourage new members to attend our meetings, which are open, to get a feel for our process and structure. There is continual support for new people and many available contact who can answer questions and offer guidance.
