Woven Oak Initiatives

About us Woven Oak Initiatives catalyzes the common good in Norwood, Ohio. We provide a home for small programs focused on education and mentorship. We also serve as a connector in the community, providing opportunities for dialogue, service and relationship-building. Our three programs are Norwood Grows, Friday Fun Life and the Norwood Makers Collective. In Norwood Grows, Program Director Erin Lockridge invites children to discover the wonders of the natural world, to cultivate the soil, and to cook with and eat the food that is grown in the soil of their own city. Director of Friday Fun Life Grace Marshall believes opportunities for play and creativity should be at the forefront of childhood and that positive adult relationships foster healthy growth in kids. She organizes Friday afterschool activities and ends their time together with Moriah Pie pizza from our local pay-as-you-can pizza parlor. Norwood Makers Collective director Dyah Miller builds community between new Cincinnatians and local residents through making and crafting. The group meets from 5 to 7 pm on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in West Norwood. In addition to our own programs, we work closely with the Norwood Drug and Alcohol Abuse Prevention Coalition, where community members that represent every sector--families, businesses, schools, and more--work together for a drug-free Norwood.
