Volunteers for Veggies at the Greenacres location meets on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 during the growing season, usually mid-April through late October. Our garden of over 20 raised beds is located at the corner of Spooky Hollow Road and Loveland-Madeira Road in Indian Hill. We grow organic produce for the Freestore Foodbank. Our main crops are greens including collards, kale, mustard, Swiss chard, and turnip greens. We also grow tomatoes, peppers, squash, and garlic. This is a great opportunity to learn organic growing techniques in a beautiful, rural setting while serving the community. Our meetings are casual and our group is laid back. We always have a lot of fun.
Our first meeting is on a Wednesday evening in March (date to be determined). We pot greens seedlings into cell packs. When they are big enough (sometime in April) we plant them in the garden, and our season gets underway.
